As a 4’11“, 82-pound freshman in high school, Rod Retherford was told by the football coach not to bother trying out. By his senior year at Grant Union High, he was 5’4” and 130 pounds, and made all-conference. At Washington State University he earned a scholarship as a walk-on junior cornerback, only to be shot in the neck one week before his first Pac-10 game. You’ve got to hear the rest of the story! Invite Rod to speak at your school, business retreat or convention and watch your people soar to new heights!

“One of my most gratifying coaching experiences: to watch Rod Retherford fight such formidable, personal adversity, and still somehow succeed at the demanding level of Pac-10 football while conquering his personal demons.”
– Jim Walden, Head Football Coach, Washington State University 1977-86
